Classic Syrup Recipe

Prep Time 2 minutes
Cook Time 7 minutes
Total Time 9 minutes
Servings: 16 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated white sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 tsp fine salt

Method

  1. Combine the 1 cup sugar and 1 cup water in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring for 2 to 3 minutes until all sugar dissolves.
  2. Stop stirring and let the syrup simmer on medium heat for 3 to 4 minutes until it lightly coats the back of a spoon.
  3. Remove from heat, stir in the 1/4 tsp fine salt, cool for 10 minutes, then pour into a sealed glass jar and refrigerate.

Notes

This recipe makes about 1 1/2 cups of syrup, which works out to roughly 16 servings at 1.5 tbsp each. If your syrup thickens too much after refrigerating overnight, it simmered a touch too long. Just stir in a tablespoon of warm water to loosen it back up.
