Ingredients
Method
- Pour the 2 cups whole milk into a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the 3 tbsp vanilla syrup, 1/4 tsp pure vanilla extract, and a pinch of fine salt. Heat for 4 to 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the milk reaches 150°F (65°C) and is steaming but not bubbling.
- Pour the hot milk into a large mug. Use a handheld frother just below the surface for 20 to 30 seconds, moving it slowly upward, until you have about 1 inch (2.5 cm) of thick foam on top.
- Divide between 2 mugs, spoon the foam over the top, and dust with a pinch of cinnamon or vanilla powder. Serve immediately.
Notes
This drink is best made fresh, but you can prep the vanilla syrup days ahead and keep it in the fridge. If you are making it for kids, 2 tbsp of syrup is plenty sweet. The garnish is optional, but a little cinnamon on top makes it look like the real thing.
