Texas Roadhouse Butter Chicken Recipe

Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 20 minutes
Total Time 30 minutes
Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts, halved lengthwise
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped

Method

  1. Pat the 4 chicken cutlets dry and season both sides with the salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and sear the chicken for 4 to 5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked to 165°F (74°C). Set aside on a plate.
  3. Reduce heat to medium, add the butter to the same pan, then cook the minced garlic for 60 seconds. Pour in the chicken broth and soy sauce, scraping up the browned bits.
  4. Stir in the honey, return the chicken to the pan, and simmer for 4 to 5 minutes over medium heat, turning once, until the sauce is glossy and coats a spoon. Stir in the lemon juice in the last 30 seconds.
  5. Transfer the chicken to a serving plate, spoon the pan sauce over the top, and garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

This recipe moves quickly once the chicken is in the pan, so have your garlic minced and broth measured before you start. Leftovers reheat well with a small splash of broth to bring the sauce back together. If your chicken breasts are very thick, slice them a little thinner than halfway so the cutlets cook through in the stated time.
