Taco Bell Fire Sauce Recipe

Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 10 minutes
Total Time 15 minutes
Servings: 16 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp white sugar
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tsp hot sauce

Method

  1. Heat a small saucepan over medium heat. Add all the dry spices and salt and stir constantly for 30 to 45 seconds until fragrant.
  2. Add the tomato sauce, white vinegar, water, and hot sauce. Stir to combine and simmer uncovered over medium heat for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened and brick red.
  3. Remove from heat and cool for 5 minutes. Blend on high for 20 to 30 seconds until smooth, then transfer to a jar or squeeze bottle.

Notes

This sauce tastes best after it's had at least 30 minutes to cool and settle, so make it ahead if you can. It keeps for 2 weeks in the fridge, and one batch is enough to sauce tacos, eggs, and pretty much anything else you're eating that week.
