Ingredients
Method
- Combine the 1 cup strawberries, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1/2 cup water in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a low boil, then simmer for 8 minutes until the strawberries are soft and the liquid is thickened.
- Blend the hot syrup on high for 20 seconds until smooth. Strain through a fine mesh sieve if you prefer a seedless syrup. Let cool for 5 minutes.
- Juice enough lemons to get 3/4 cup fresh lemon juice.
- In a large pitcher, stir together the lemon juice, strawberry syrup, and 3 cups cold water for about 20 seconds until fully combined. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
- Divide the 2 cups crushed ice among 4 glasses, pour the lemonade over the ice, and garnish each glass with a lemon slice and a fresh strawberry.
Notes
The strawberry syrup can be made up to 5 days ahead and kept in a sealed jar in the fridge. If the lemonade sits in the pitcher for a while, give it a stir before pouring since the syrup settles to the bottom. This recipe is easy to double — just scale the syrup and lemon juice equally.
