Sonic Smasher Sauce Recipe

Prep Time 5 minutes
Total Time 5 minutes
Servings: 8 servings

Ingredients

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 3 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 tbsp sweet pickle relish
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ¼ tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Method

  1. Whisk the mayonnaise, ketchup, and yellow mustard together in a medium bowl until fully combined with no streaks, about 30 seconds.
  2. Add the sweet pickle relish, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce and stir until fully incorporated, about 1 minute.
  3. Taste the sauce and season with salt and black pepper, adding a pinch at a time until it suits you.
  4. Press plastic wrap against the surface and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, then stir, spoon generously onto your assembled burger, and serve.

Notes

This sauce keeps well for up to 10 days in the fridge, so making a double batch on the weekend is worth it. The 30-minute rest is not optional if you want the powders to lose that raw edge. Taste before you add any salt since the ketchup and relish already carry a fair amount.
