Outback Steakhouse Steamed Green Beans Recipe

Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 10 minutes
Total Time 15 minutes
Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp seasoned salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp lemon juice

Method

  1. Bring 1 inch of water to a boil in a medium saucepan. Place a steamer basket inside, add the green beans, cover, and steam for 5 to 6 minutes until tender-crisp.
  2. Transfer the hot beans to a large bowl. Add the butter, minced garlic, seasoned salt, black pepper, and onion powder, and toss for 1 minute until the butter melts and the beans are evenly coated.
  3. Drizzle the lemon juice over the beans, toss once more, transfer to a serving plate, and spoon any remaining butter and garlic from the bowl over the top.

Notes

These taste best eaten right away while the butter is still warm and glossy. If your garlic is particularly pungent, start with 1 clove and taste before adding the second. The seasoned salt is doing a lot of the work in this recipe, so don't skip it or the flavor will fall flat.
