McDonald's Pancakes Recipe

Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 1 minute
Total Time 25 minutes
Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter, for the pan

Method

  1. Stir the 1 tbsp white vinegar into the 1 cup whole milk and let it sit for 5 minutes until slightly thickened.
  2. Whisk together the 1 cup flour, 2 tsp baking powder, 1 tbsp sugar, and 1/2 tsp salt in a large bowl.
  3. Beat the 1 large egg, 2 tbsp melted butter, and 1 tsp vanilla into the soured milk, pour into the dry ingredients, and stir until just combined with a few lumps remaining.
  4. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat, melt a little of the 1 tbsp butter for the pan, and cook 1/4 cup portions of batter for 2 to 3 minutes per side until bubbles form and edges are set, then flip and cook 1 to 2 minutes more.
  5. Stack the finished pancakes on a warm plate, top with a pat of butter, and pour over maple syrup to serve.

Notes

The batter should look lumpy before it hits the pan. If you mix until it is smooth, the pancakes will be noticeably chewier. The first pancake almost always needs a heat adjustment, so treat it as a test and tweak from there before you cook the full batch.
