Flamin' Hot Cheetos Wings Recipe

Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 45 minutes
Total Time 1 hour
Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken wings
  • 3 cups Flamin' Hot Cheetos
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • Cooking spray

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and set a wire rack over a foil-lined baking sheet; coat the rack with cooking spray. Crush the 3 cups Cheetos in a zip-top bag until coarse and transfer to a shallow bowl.
  2. Mix the 1/2 cup flour, 1 tsp garlic powder, 1 tsp onion powder, 1/2 tsp smoked paprika, 1/2 tsp salt, and 1/4 tsp cayenne in one bowl. Beat the 2 eggs in a second bowl. Dredge each wing in flour, dip in egg, then press firmly into the Cheetos crumbs. Place on the rack.
  3. Drizzle the 2 tbsp melted butter over the coated wings. Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 40 to 45 minutes, flipping at the halfway mark, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the crust is deep red-orange and firm.
  4. Transfer wings to a platter, squeeze 1/2 a lime over the top, scatter extra crushed Cheetos over the plate, and serve immediately with ranch or blue cheese dressing alongside.

Notes

These wings are best eaten right out of the oven while the crust is at its crunchiest. If you're feeding a crowd, you can keep them warm on the rack in a 200°F (93°C) oven for up to 20 minutes without losing much texture. One thing worth knowing: the Cheetos crust stains your fingers red, so paper towels on the table are a good idea.
