Cracker Barrel Coleslaw Recipe

Prep Time 15 minutes
Total Time 15 minutes
Servings: 6 servings

Ingredients

  • 6 cups green cabbage, thinly shredded (about 1 small head)
  • 1/2 cup shredded carrot
  • 3/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 3 tbsp white sugar
  • 3 tbsp white vinegar
  • 1 tbsp whole milk
  • 1/2 tsp celery salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder

Method

  1. Quarter the cabbage, remove the core, and shred thinly to get 6 cups. Combine with the 1/2 cup shredded carrot in a large bowl.
  2. Whisk together the 3/4 cup mayonnaise, 3 tbsp sugar, 3 tbsp white vinegar, 1 tbsp milk, 1/2 tsp celery salt, 1/4 tsp black pepper, and 1/4 tsp onion powder until smooth and the sugar is dissolved.
  3. Pour the dressing over the cabbage and carrot. Toss for 1 to 2 minutes until every strand is coated and the dressing looks glossy.
  4. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes, then transfer to a serving bowl and finish with a sprinkle of black pepper on top.

Notes

This coleslaw is best made at least 30 minutes ahead of when you plan to serve it. If you're taking it to a cookout, keep it in the fridge right up until you leave and transport it in a cooler. The dressing recipe scales easily if you need to feed a crowd.
