Chick-fil-A Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe

Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 13 minutes
Total Time 28 minutes
Servings: 18 cookies

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup bread flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp fine sea salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs (1 whole egg plus 1 yolk)
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1½ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method

  1. Whisk together the 2 cups all-purpose flour, ¼ cup bread flour, 1 tsp baking soda, and 1 tsp fine sea salt in a medium bowl. Set aside.
  2. Beat the 1 cup softened butter with the 1 cup brown sugar and ¼ cup granulated sugar for 2 to 3 minutes until pale and slightly fluffy.
  3. Add 1 whole egg, 1 egg yolk, and 2 tsp vanilla extract to the butter mixture; beat for 1 minute until smooth.
  4. Fold the flour mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined, then fold in the 1½ cups chocolate chips.
  5. Scoop the dough into 3-tablespoon balls (18 to 20 total), place on a tray, cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Arrange dough balls 2 inches apart on parchment-lined baking sheets and bake for 11 to 13 minutes until edges are golden and centers look slightly underdone.
  7. Press 4 to 5 extra chocolate chips onto each hot cookie and serve warm with the chips glossy and the edges deep amber.

Notes

The 30-minute chill is not optional if you want thick cookies. You can refrigerate the dough overnight, which also deepens the flavor. If you're baking on a dark nonstick pan, check at 10 minutes since those pans run hotter and the bottoms can overbrown before the tops catch up.
