Burger King Whopper Recipe

Prep Time 8 minutes
Cook Time 2 minutes
Total Time 20 minutes
Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) 80/20 ground beef
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 4 sesame seed burger buns
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 4 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 4 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp yellow mustard
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 4 large leaves iceberg lettuce
  • 2 medium tomatoes, sliced 1/4 inch thick
  • 1/2 white onion, sliced into thin rings
  • 12 dill pickle slices

Method

  1. Divide the beef into 4 portions and press each into a 5-inch patty about 1/4 inch thick. Season both sides with the salt and pepper, and press a small indent into the center of each.
  2. Heat a cast iron skillet over high heat for 2 minutes. Cook the patties for 3 minutes on the first side, flip, and cook 2 to 3 minutes more. Add 1 slice of American cheese per patty in the last 30 seconds and cover to melt.
  3. Remove the patties and rest for 2 minutes. Melt the butter in the same pan over medium heat and toast all bun halves cut-side down for about 1 minute until golden.
  4. Spread 1/2 tbsp mayonnaise on each bun half, then spread 1/2 tbsp ketchup over the mayo on each half. Add about 1/4 tsp mustard to each bottom bun only.
  5. Layer each burger: patty on the bottom bun, then 3 pickle slices, onion rings, 2 to 3 tomato slices, and 1 lettuce leaf. Add the top bun, press lightly, and serve immediately.

Notes

These patties are best cooked and eaten right away. If you're cooking for a group, keep finished patties loosely tented with foil in a 200°F (95°C) oven for up to 10 minutes while you cook the rest. Don't assemble the burgers until everyone is ready to eat.
